Chippewa Falls, Wisc. (1939)
12/09/1939: In a remarkably complex story, the murder attempted
to borrow $2,000 from a savings & loan.
After he was rejected, he planned the kidnapping of the loan officer’s
grandson; he still had a ransom note in his pocket demanding $40,000 in ransom. The murderer robbed a gas station, injuring the
attendant and two customers. Then he
murdered what might have been an accomplice, his wife, their son, and his
parents-in-law, burned down the house, and committed suicide.
