Trump Enforces the Laws that Portland Won't

Political leaders in Oregon have accused President Donald Trump of interfering in Portland's handling of widespread protests and riots in the wake of George Floyd's death as a political stunt to rally his base ahead of the November election.

Despite repeated calls from Oregon Gov. Kate Brown and Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler for federal authorities to remove their officers from the city's streets, the Trump administration has remained adamant on maintaining a law enforcement presence in Portland.

The recent incident of a protester getting shot in the head with an impact munition, as well as videos of unidentifiable federal agents in tactical gear arresting protesters on the streets and forcing them into unmarked vehicles have raised alarm, however, about federal law enforcement's tactics.
You mean arresting rioters is a problem?  And why?  It would be best to leave this to local law enforcement, nut when Portlandia's government is refusing to do so....  This is for the elk!

  1. This is an insurrection and should be dealt with as such.

  2. I'm going to disagree on this one. Local law enforcement, or lack there of, is not a federal issue. Portland needs to clean up their own mess or stew in it if they won't.

  3. tkc: Constitution provides authority to intervene for insurrection. Whether they should or not depends on whether people who did not elect the fools are in danger.

  4. So what if it is an insurrection. If Portland wants to declare its independence then let them. If the rest of the state doesn't follow then it is pretty much a meaningless gesture. Color me shocked that they have not thought this through.

As for the people living in Portland, I have one word for them. Run.
