Solution: Move to a State That Shares Your Values

7/11/18 Time reports on the sort of "preppers" the left likes: those buying Plan B, the Undo contraceptive pill, because they are sure Roe v. Wade (1973) will be overturned by the Court.  I have gone from generally pro-choice to moderately pro-life over the last 20 years largely because there are serious logical errors in the "it's not human life" argument and there is a somewhat casual attitude about responsible contraception because abortion and abortifacients have taken away the risks of carelessness.  The Los Angeles Times published this 11/29/2005 article sympathetic to abortion that really left me shocked and horrified:
His first patient of the day, Sarah, 23, says it never occurred to her to use birth control, though she has been sexually active for six years. When she became pregnant this fall, Sarah, who works in real estate, was in the midst of planning her wedding. "I don't think my dress would have fit with a baby in there," she says.
The last patient of the day, a 32-year-old college student named Stephanie, has had four abortions in the last 12 years. She keeps forgetting to take her birth control pills. Abortion "is a bummer," she says, "but no big stress."
This carelessness and lack of apparent concern about destroying an unborn child and for such a casual reason as dress fit just made me say, "Yes, the pro-lifers are right.  Making it readily available creates a very casual attitude towards destruction of life."

I have seen commenters over the years claim that abortion must be available because there are no contraceptive solutions.  When I prodded them with how cheap and easy condoms are, the response is that men won't use them.  Maybe you need to stop picking up men that uninterested in your needs.  Any guy who won't use a condom to get sex clearly does want or need it that badly.

This also promotes a very casual attitude by men about sexual responsibility.  Some years ago, I worked with a guy who had been living with a gal for two years.  She wanted commitment to marriage.  This diagram shows the brain of too many men:

So she ended up pregnant.  (I doubt it was an accident.)  She wanted him to marry her.  He wanted her to have an abortion.  When all was done, he no longer had a girlfriend, but he did have an 18 year child support obligation.  He came to my office seeking sympathy.  He did not get it.  Actions have consequences.

Lets see. You have a female that is fully willing to indulge in a transaction (bed someone for personal profit; it is immaterial whether the profit is financial, emotional, etc), selling virtue for some form of remuneration. That type of behavior is typically called prostitution.

Then the prostitute conspires, with her customer, to commit infanticide. No surprise there, given the foundation of the relationship.

I have zero problem with a justice system that would include capital punishment for both of the perpetrators. Not only would I have zero sympathy (for either of them) for the male half who came seeking it, I would have told him that his first step in dealing with the issue is to repent of his crime of conspiring to commit murder.

Americans, and including Christians, really do not believe that abortion is murder. They say that they do, but at a cognitive level they still do not believe that. What would be the response (if they did) of all of those concerned, if they really thought that the abortion industry was currently operating full steam, at ten times the amount of any WWII Dachau or Buchenwald? Babies being sent, daily, into the grinders? Little puffs of smoke from the crematories, with signs over every abortion clinic saying "Unzucht macht dich frei".

What people do is based upon what people think.

    1. The girlfriend refused to have an abortion, apparently seeing it as an immoral choice .

  2. "Some years ago, I worked with a guy who had been living with a gal for two years. She wanted commitment to marriage."

When I was a young man, few decent women would sleep with a guy without an engagement ring on their hand. Of course there were women that did sleep around, but either they weren't interested in marriage or they weren't decent. So she started off wrong; she didn't act like she wanted commitment to marriage, she acted like she wanted a guy for sex. She got it; she also got pregnant.

Nothing in this story tells me the woman wanted marriage, except she said so after she was pregnant. The guy never wanted marriage, he wanted the free sex without commitment, which she'd been giving him. Why buy the cow when the milk's free?

Very few men will refuse sex when it's offered with no price tag, so I differ with you: he got stuck with a child that he'd never agreed to, because of laws passed to appease women: we can't have her feeling guilty, can we, or like she's done something wrong by having sex without marriage.

I'm willing to bet she's sleeping with some other guy now, but she won't marry him either. Why should she? She's got the government to pay her for her indiscretions if the guy somehow escapes.

The guys are the ones who really get screwed, doubly!

An attitude which I worry has spread beyond the realm of abortion, especially in our more cognitively-challenged communities.
