This incredibly stiff piece of 12mm carbon fiber composite is sold as rod not as a shaft. How concentric is it. I put it in the lathe with the steady rest and measured variation in height as I rotated it. The very end moved .046". This does not seem very far off. I could turn that much off reducing a 12mm rod to about 10.9mm. Perhaps starting with a 13mm rod and turning it down by the same amount.
