Magnetic Fields As Alpha & Beta Particle Shielding

Alpha particles are positive charged (helium nuclei at relatively low energy).  Beta particles are negative charged (high energy electrons).

Has anyone experimented with magnetic fields to provide shielding from either? Obviously this does nothing for gamma rays, X-rays, and neutrons.

  1. There's really not a lot of need to shield from either of these, as they don't really penetrate anything, not even the first layer of skin. (Although swallowing an alpha emitter can be bad for you.)
