Someone on Craig's List has a Celestron C8 for sale for $395. New these are about $1600.
Unless abused, catadioptric telescopes seldom wear out or become unserviceable and this would be a fine entry level telescope. I would be quite willing to come along and give it a once over.
Lightly used Celestron Deluxe telescope purchased in 2011. It does have an "Astro Master" which allows computerized pointing of the scope towards difference astrological targets. I have not been able to get this to work but I am unexperienced with scopes. The optics are fine.[emphasis added]
I am a recovering scopeoholic or I would be already there.
