Truly Insane

Great Planes: F84 shows a B36 dropping and retrieving RF84 in midair.  This makes in air refueling look safe and sensible.

Crazier: ballistic launch of F84 for zero runway launch out of fear of sneak destruction on US Air bases.

And the F84H, a turboprop version capable of 670 mph.

    Recently, you have mentioned interesting subjects like this, with no references at all.

    IIRC, that turboprop version was the loudest aircraft the US ever dealt with, due to the supersonic blades.
