I am currently uploading the images to claytoncramer.com/ColtImages. I looked into using Mechanical Turk, but this is easier to set up. Whwn you grab a page, add a comment that you are doing the image file you have grabbed. Let's do them in numeric sequence to simplify who grabs thhe next one. Email me either text or Word document to clayton !!AT!! claytoncramer.com. Use the file name in the subject lime.
The following are already in process or done: IMG1480.jpg
If you have already received an image by email, add the name to the comments below.
Thank you all. If you would like t listed in the Acknowledgments section of the book, let me know. Some work in sensitive jobs where such activity could be a Career-Ending Move. I am cropping, rotating (in some cases), sharpening, reducing brightness, and increasing contrast on these images in numeric sequence, and uploading as I write this.
Finished cropping, rotating and contrast adjusting. If you find an i,mage hard to read say so. I photographed with cellphone and Canon. I may have gotten a better image with cellphone in some cases.
20161011_132157.jpg and 20161011_125101.jpg done.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I emailed you the smartphone images. I will updatethis comment with the names on the website this evening
ReplyDeleteI also got dibs on the following
ReplyDelete[IMG] IMG_1569.JPG 2016-10-14 09:38 3.6M
[IMG] IMG_1570.JPG 2016-10-14 09:38 3.7M

This is an amazing undertaking.. Colt's penmanship and punctuation (and I am being kind) brutally awful. It is like a detective game trying to figure out what is what.
How does one "add a comment"? I see no option for that. I see an FTP type directory. There is a Description field for each entry, but no way to update it.

DeleteMiguel: The oddly named pages you have done equivalent to IMG1490. Still not sure what the IMG equivalent of p. 174 is.
ReplyDeleteGot it.
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazingly interesting work...and frustrating sometimes. I have three more letters ready but for one word or two that I can't figure out yet.
But damn! I am reading a letter Sam Colt sent to Commodore Matthew Perry about pistols! It does not get any more historically cool than that. (IMG_1560)
I'll get IMG_1482.
ReplyDeleteI have IMG_1483.
ReplyDeleteI have IMG_1485
ReplyDeleteI have IMG_1486
ReplyDeleteI have IMG_1487-1495
ReplyDeleteJust did some more cropping, rotating, and image improvements. Keep in mind that some of documents are multipage leeters, one page to an image.
ReplyDeleteThanks to all for your hard work.
