A heroic ROTC student fatally stabbed the crazed ISIS-linked gunman who opened fire inside an Old Dominion University classroom Thursday, preventing further carnage, law enforcement sources said.

Shooter Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, 36, gunned down an instructor before the unidentified cadet jumped into action to put an end to the suspected terror attack on the Virginia college campus, according to sources.

Joliah had a prior conviction for attempting to aid ISIS. His first name is, of course, a coincidence.

Still a Tragedy, But a Different Kind

1/3/25 NPR:

"A highly decorated Army soldier who died in an explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck at the Trump hotel in Las Vegas left a note saying it was stunt to serve as "wakeup call" for the country's ills, investigators said Friday.

"Matthew Livelsberger, a 37-year-old Green Beret from Colorado Springs, Colorado, also wrote in the note that he needed to "cleanse my mind" of the lives lost of people he knew and "the burden of the lives I took."

"Livelsberger apparently harbored no ill will toward President-elect Donald Trump, Clark County sheriff's officials said.

"Although this incident is more public and more sensational than usual, it ultimately appears to be a tragic case of suicide involving a heavily decorated combat veteran who was struggling with PTSD and other issues," FBI Special Agent In Charge Spencer Evans said at a news conference."

This explains why a Green Beret set off a bomb in a containment vessel that caused no deaths.  I suspect the collapse of his marriage took him over the edge into suicide.  One soldier committing suicide over PTSD would have been a couple lines in a local paper.  This was worldwide news.

War is brutal.  A girlfriend's father had a serious drinking problem.   One evening,  he explained that his job during World War 2 was sniper: killing people hundreds of yards a way who were no threat to him.  That has to be twisting to anyone who grew up in a society that says that killing others, even in self-defense,  is an evil best avoided.

"A master sergeant in the Army’s 10th Special Forces Group, he was forgetting words, losing his train of thought midsentence and struggling with insomnia. He had headaches and depressive moods that sometimes kept him shut away for days. In a text exchange after they started dating, he mentioned having been deployed three times in three years. She asked if he had been hurt. “Just some concussions,” he responded.""

There are a lot of veterans who came back okay.  Some came back very not okay.  A friend's son never even saw combat.  Demolition training did a lot of damage.  He is disabled in his 20s.

1/4/25 NBC News:

"A U.S. Army veteran from Texas who drove to Louisiana and deliberately plowed into New Year’s revelers in New Orleans recorded videos during the drive addressed to his family, in which he talked about plans to kill them and told them he had joined ISIS.

“I wanted to record this message for my family,” Shamsud-Din Jabbar said in the videos. “I wanted you to know that I joined ISIS earlier this year.”

He then added: “I don’t want you to think I spared you willingly.”

He told his family that he had first wanted to organize a “celebration” for them and make everyone “witness the killing of the apostates,” an apparent reference to killing them."

Apparently,  he came our of a mixed Muslim Christian family and considered them as having compromised too much.

1/2/25 Denver channel 7:

"DENVER — The Colorado Springs resident suspected of detonating a Tesla Cybertruck in front of a Las Vegas hotel and the Texas man accused of driving a pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street in New Orleans served at the same military base, sources told Denver7 Investigates."

Both were clearly terrorist attacks. The Biden Administration was concerned about domestic extremists at Fort Bragg (or whatever name it has now), but I think they worried about neo-Nazis or MAGAtts, not Muslim sympathizers 

The Cybertruck successfully contained the bomb.  Babylon Bee reports that the National Association of Terrorist Car Bombers have awarded it worst ranked.

Was That Cybertruck Explosion a Battery Failure?

This Degrades the Meaning of the Word

NEW YORK — The man accused of killing UnitedHealthcare's CEO has been charged with murder as an act of terrorism, prosecutors said Tuesday as they worked to bring him to a New York court from from a Pennsylvania jail.

Luigi Mangione already was charged with murder in the Dec. 4 killing of Brian Thompson, but the terror allegation is new.

Under New York law, such a charge can be brought when an alleged crime is "intended to intimidate or coerce a civilian population, influence the policies of a unit of government by intimidation or coercion and affect the conduct of a unit of government by murder, assassination or kidnapping."

Insurance companies are not governments.  Intimidating insurance companies or their CEOs are not "a civilian population" unless there are a lot more insurance company CEOs than I think.  It is already bad enough that he is becoming a hero to the left.  Charging him as a terrorist will just make him more popular with the blue-haired, heavily pierced and tattooed crowd.

"An Afghan man arrested on charges of planning a terrorist attack on Election Day worked as a security guard in Afghanistan for the CIA, two sources with knowledge of the matter told NBC News.

"Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, 27, was arrested on Monday in Oklahoma and accused of plotting to kill Americans with an assault rifle on behalf of ISIS. Court documents said he had contributed to an ISIS charity in March and accessed online ISIS propaganda, but they did not say whether he was radicalized before or after he came to the U.S. in 2021. A senior law enforcement official said the FBI is still investigating that question."

It makes you wonder how much our Afghanistan effort might have been working for Taliban

Gee, do you suppose if Hamas had not taken and held hostages this could have been avoided?

Things to Worry About; Things Not to Worry About

I keep hearing this "ten million men of military age" concern about the swarm of illegal aliens, with either Chinese Army or Muslim terrorists attached.

Yes, there are too many illegals crossing what used to be a border.  But this recent evaluation of data on contacts shows that most remain Mexicans and even the OTMs (Other Than Mexicans) are largely from Latin America.

Young men are disproportionately economic refugees.  They are seeking work.  Americans are increasingly not too concerned with this work concept; there must be a lot of indulgent parents out there.

The idea that these millions of illegal aliens are waiting for a text message to open fire is not supported by the evidence.

We should be concerned about this 9/15/23 New York Post report:

"Federal law enforcement stopped 160 people listed on the terror watch list from entering the US illegally at America’s borders this fiscal year — the highest number ever — government statistics reveal."

A relatively small number of terrorists could do a lot of damage.  Those 160 are likely a fraction of border crossers.

What The Biden Administration Paid Iran to do

Not every match on terrorist watch list is a terrorist.  How many people are named some combination of Mohammed Barack and Hussein?  Still a good argument for having a border.

If Iran has done what Obama helped them to do, they have some U-235 "gun type" bombs by now.  I think this design, while so simple it needs no testing, is limited to 200kt.

Israel I am sure had thermonuclear warheads on their SLBMs.  Incinerating Tehran and Qom (an important Shia religious center) would likely end the war with Iran.  The death toll from nuclear detonations will be horrifying as will be the fallout.

I doubt this would engage the U.S. directly.  A lot of Sunni nations will send strongly worded notes to Israel (or what is left of it) and thank them discretely.

Still, I could sleep both Iranian sleeper cells and lone wolf Muslim attacks domestically 

Stockpile food, ammo, and water.

It could get ugly for a month or two while Biden's team decides who to punish in the U.S.

Waldman tried to make things better for Palestinians and they paid back kindness with evil.  I try to distinguish lunatic cults of Islam from Islam itself, but Wahhabism, ISIS, al-Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah all seem to be fruit from the same poisoned root.  I suspect all of these "cults" would write off Muslims who just want to live their lives as corrupt and not really Muslims at all.

Supporting Terrorism Has Consequences

10/11/23 Boston Globe:

"Fallout from a controversial statement published and initially signed by about 30 student groups at Harvard University continued Wednesday as two trucks circled Harvard Square for much of the day, featuring the names and photos of students linked to the statement."

Taking the side of a group committing murder of civilians, gang rapes, and beheading infants is a very progressive position.

Some of the students who self-identified as terrorism supporters are all butt-hurt that they may not be safe because they are being called out.  The same would be true if college students loudly proclaimed their support for the KKK and lynchings.  Take up the side of barbarism and there are consequences (mostly looking over your shoulder: our side is not Antifa or Hamas).

That these are the people that will be in charge of many of our institutions of government and higher education is really scary.  Harvard has become increasingly the enemy of America and decency.

The left seems intent on civil war by backing Hamas.  Friday has been declared Global Jihad Day by Hamas.  I doubt there is much to fear in Boise but I will be armed when I leave the house.  Those of you who live in the USA (not California and other Blue states intent on disarming victims) should plan to be armed in the event a Hamas affiliate comes to you.
