Why Everyone Needs a Drill Press and a Micrometer

The trash compactor pedal stopped working.  Analysis showed that the mount that held the right pedal screw had torn through allowing the screw to pull out through the front door.   Considering the compactor is 11 years old,  I cannot complain.  So the solution was to replace the little mounting plate that the screw goes through.  My wife looked closely enough to see that the plate was held on by two tiny screws,  not welded or riveted.   I love products designed to be repaired!   So I made a replacement plate that exactly replaced it.

  1. Hardly need a micrometer for that.

  2. I must admit I am feeling the lack of a drill press.

  3. Measuring distance from edge to center of all three holes is the micrometer. Not really needed, but improves fit slightly.
