That 45 Degree; Cut

Whoever suggested starting with a 2" long piece and cutting to length after milling that angle, thank you.  I started with a 2" long x 1" diameter aluminum workpiece, bored the center hole on the lathe with a 1/2" end mill to .75" depth, drilled and tapped a 1/4"-20 thread, then put it on the mill as below.  Face milling was not working so well, so I switched to edge milling.  I zoom in after a few seconds.
I am removing .001" per slice at 3 ipm.  I could probably be more aggressive, but why bother?  This is a one-off project.
