One of the Many Down Sides of Aging

Your toenails get too thick for traditional toenail clippers.  Perhaps it is just me but they get more rounded as well.  You cannot get enough of the nail between the blades.  My wife has started using a electric device intended for callous removal.  It is slow.  Does anyone have any recommendations?.

The good news is that I seem to have broken below 200 pounds and staying there.  I am 25 pounds below where I started dieting a couple years ago. Pizzas stay away!

  3. Try electrical side cutting pliers...

Klein makes a nice pair: https://www.kleintools.com/catalog/diagonal-cutting-pliers/diagonal-cutting-pliers-high-leverage-angled-head-8-inch

You can use a mill file to clean up...

  4. I suffer from thick toenails, poor eye sight, and a large belly which makes cutting toenails very difficult. My solution is a monthly (or as needed) trip to the nail salon. Pedicure costs about $35 with tip, $10, $15, comes to about $100 a month for my wife and me. This includes a relaxing whirlpool for feet, callous removal with pumice stone and a vigorous foot massage. We leave feeling relaxed and refreshed.

  5. I assume you're using toenail clippers instead of fingernail clippers? I've had no trouble with thick and curved nails when using mine, which at 3" long are about twice the size of my fingernail clippers, and they open to about 1/8". Their main benefit is being straight-edged instead of curved.

  6. My Grandfather had a nail clipper that was about the size of a diagonal wire cutter, but the cutting part was curved like a big toe toenail.
