If you know a mother with very young children who seems overwhelmed, severely depressed, or showing signs of lunacy, you have a duty to seek help for her, either by conversation, or by engaging family.

12/26/1952: The mother left a note for her husband: “I’m sorry, darling. I can’t go another day like this. I love you.” She took her 5, 4, and 1-year-old into the car in the basement garage and turned on the engine. "The children had taken their Christmas toys and candy into the car with them." She survived; they did not.
