My Cat

He is 19.  He cannot really clean himself anymore (or does not want to do so) so his fur is matted.  If I stroke him the excess fur comes off and he seems happy.  I think the excess fur is dirty or oily and that is why it matts.  He is not an indoor cat now.  The dogs seem to make him mark in the house.  In summer the outdoor temperatures seem to make him happy.  In winter he sleeps in a doghouse with a pressure activated heating pad.

It is hard not to empathize.  I am beginning to feel like Tater.

  1. Get you a Furminator comb. It will take care of that matted fur in a jiffy.

    1. Thanks for the suggestion. The metal brush seems to be helping and he enjoys it.

  2. 19 years is a long life for a cat. Winter is coming, and I think you will soon have a decision to make. I am sorry for you. I have made simular decisions.

    1. Last winter worked fine, but I know. Pets seldom outlive their owners, except for Winston's Churchill's parrot. https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=1676150
