7/14/21 JAMA reports that those recover from COVID-19 (which is almost all) have lasting immunity 12 months later although vaccine strengthens it.
It may be that the right strategy was to vaccinate those at highest risk, provide care for the rest, and wait for the natural immunity to make it a rare but annoying disease.
