I love finding the hidden/out of the way museums. My college (and the area around it) had a few.
Pre-high-speed internet I would stop at small stores and get hints and tips on neat places to visit. (Obviously not a chain store but often the small specialized shops.)
Today, it seems that everything is online. Few secrets left that you can't find using Google.
