New Antigun Liars

Slate and The Trace, apparently a new gun control website have teamed up to show every gun death and wounding in America.  Enter your address and it will show you the nearby tragedies.  Not surprisingly my neighborhood is free of such incidents.  (That's because I keep my guns locked in the safe so they can't go hunting.)  But one of the nearby arguments for gun control is a Nov. 1 shooting in Council, Idaho.  Here are the details.
COUNCIL, Idaho (KBOI) A 62-year-old Council man has been killed in an officer-involved shooting in Council.

Idaho State Police says the incident took place on Highway 95 north of Council Sunday evening after the driver of a vehicle hit a cow. Police say as emergency crews tried to help the driver and the passenger of the vehicle, the cow began to charge at first responders.

When deputies tried to put the injured bull down, ISP says the owner of the cow, 62-year-old Jack Yantis of Council, arrived on scene with a rifle.

ISP says what happened next is under investigation, but Yantis and two deputies shot their weapon. The Council man died at the scene.
The deputies are under investigation.  My son who is a journalist with a local news station says it looks bad for the police.  But how in the world will disarming civilians prevent police misuse of force, except if police are also disarmed?  If you think police are against gun control now, imagine their reaction if they are disarmed.  Another gun rights activist looked up shootings in his neighborhood, and found it was a policeman shot with his own gun by someone he was trying to arrest.

I suspect thetrace.org is another part of Bloomberg's attempt to buy government.  The whois for the domain is:

Anyone recognize the name?

Yup: Bloomberg funded

UPDATE: One reader observes:
The one incident they show near me of "1 shooting, 1 fatal" was indeed tragic -- the victim woman was being stabbed repeatedly and the police had to shoot the man attacking her in order to stop the attack. Both died from their injuries.
If all my readers could check the accuracy and relevance of incidents around them with links to news stories about these incidents and add them as comments we could crowdsource a refutation of the trace.org pretty quickly.

UPDATE 2: Another person shot by a police officer while the dead guy was stabbing someone:

I'm not sure why I'm supposed to be unconcerned about the murder-by-stabbing, but upset about the use-of-a-gun by the police to attempt to stop a murder in progress.
