Stainless Steel is Really Hard

I thought I ordered 13mm carbon steel rod.  No, it was stainless steel but I thought I only need to cut a small section down to M13 major diameter.  But even carbide cutting tool just dulls the tool.

I just ordered an aluminum rod.  I really do not need that much stiffness.

  1. it's the nickel.

Plus often they are case hardened.

  2. I knew that my Swiss Army knives and other stainless steel knives took a long time to sharpen, but I did not know it was harder than carbide steel. High Speed Steel would be totally useless, then.
