Forgot How Painfully Funny Rat Race Is

Today, we went to the funeral of a 30 year old woman who committed suicide.  There are no happy funerals but watching this slide show the family had created of pictures from babyhood to just a few months ago and listening to stories of what a comic she was: would you stuff food up your nose while working for a telemarketing firm?

So a comedy was absolutely essential.  Rat Race is a 2001 comedy with Rowan Atkinson and John Cleese produced and directed by one of the Zucker brothers.  You end up in pain from how much the laughing stretches the muscles.  The scene after the Jewish family visits the Barbie Museum (Klaus Barbie) is still too funny to watch without muscle pain.  The balloon, rope, and cow sequences are classic Zucker.  The only part not family friendly is the Jacuzzi with Pepto-Bismol and sailor hats gag.  I think that was put in there just to get the rating raised; a G or PG rating is death to teen audiences.

Oh and if you know someone in serious trouble:

Boise Area and someone you know is going through the grief of suicide?

This concludes today's public service announcement.
