Now, I understand why businesses do this: they want to find people to join their class action lawsuits or buy worthless extended warranties.
What I do not understand: how does this number of calls actually work? If there were lots of people suffering from adverse reactions or lots of people who need extended warranties then the first two calls per day should get almost all of them. This volume of calls makes no sense? Is some government subsidizing this?
