Solar Power Again

I am looking to install a couple of 225W 240VAC panels on the house, not grid-tied and not charging a battery, just to provide excess power for summer A/C and another source of power in the event of the end of civilization as we know it.  I am waiting for some technical details on cable lengths and mounting brackets.  I do want to order them to get the tax credit for this year, when I will have some shot-term disability income that wasn't taxed.

  1. Are there any particular online sources of info that you could recommend? It is hard to sort out the millions of hits Google gives you when you try to find current info on solar.

  2. I can't say that I have found any single source.

  3. I'm unclear on how these panels will feed loads in your house w/o being grid-tied...?? Solar panels output Direct Current, all household loads are Alternating Current. Simply running the solar panels into an inverter isn't going to do the job..??

  4. They have a microinverter on them that outputs 240 VAC.
