Planet of the Apes

I was surprised to find that the novel was written by Pierre Boulle, who also wrote The Bridge Over the River Kwai.  The movie does not follow the book, which has a framing story of two honeymooners, travelling through space, who find the story as a message in a bottle.  Once into the interior story, it seems to match pretty well.

The 40mg of Prozac has really made a difference.  I am most of the way through  Planet of the Apes, able to read and enjoy a book for the first time in months.

Done!  Not at all the ending of the movie.  There is a very hairy surprise ending.

  1. I have never read the book, but it is on my "someday" reading list.

The movie screenplay (1968) was written by Rod Serling of Twilight Zone and Night Gallery fame. It has all the pacing, plot twists, satire and critique of man and modern society as his best TV episodes.
