I need one 1/4" OD, ID negotiable to whatever diameter of aluminum shaft I can find. But online, grommets seem to come in packs of 100. Any suggestions where I might find just one locally?

Well Home Depot, Lowes, Ace, D&B all have drawer bins with grommets.
ReplyDeleteIf you have a Menard's near you, I've found they have one or two packs of things like taps, while elsewhere they're bulk buys. Here's the web link for their rubber grommet listing:

A really good hardware store MIGHT sell you a one-off.
ReplyDeleteEqually, a car-parts store might be able to find one of an appropriate OD.
Menards carries a large assortment. SOmetimes Home Depot as well.
ReplyDeleteAlso ACE or, if you have one, an independant Auto parts store.
Most all good hardware stores will have a rack of drawers with specialty hardware in small bags. Size of item tends to be the determiner of quantity contained. Typically less than $2/bag, until you get to stuff like bearings. Home Depot, Lowes, Ace, etc.
ReplyDeleteHardware store.
ReplyDeleteWill an O-ring work? Ace hardware stocks all sorts of sizes.
ReplyDeleteLowes or Home Depot
ReplyDeleteToo bad there are no more Radio Shacks...they used to have them, at least in small bags
