Photosynthesis Causes Light? Who Knew?

  1. A quick look suggests that the fluorescence marks excess capacity in the chlorophyll antenna system relative to available reaction centers. A visible photon carries a lot of energy, so it makes sense that if a given absorbed photon goes unused for reaction energy, that much of its energy is re-radiated rather than all going to thermal.
