Arms and the Law points out that
Ray Nagin, formerly mayor of New Orleans, and a member of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, has been sentenced to prison:
The prosecutor "compared Nagin's crimes with those of other public officials who drew stiff sentences, including former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick (28 years), former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich (14 years) and former Birmingham, Alab., mayor Larry Langford (15 years)." Kilpatrick and Langford were members of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, and Blagojevich was about as antigun as is imaginable.
It is not a coincidence that
many members of Illegal Mayors Against Guns have been sent to prison. I think that their criminal tendencies cause them to assume that everyone else is as crooked as they are. And i
t isn't just public corruption:
Some of the Gang's members have been convicted of assaulting officers and constituents, corruption, extortion, theft, obstruction of justice, bribery, perjury, tax evasion, child porn, battery, and child molestation.
The other day, I met a fella who owns a civil engineering firm. He was going to attempt bidding work for the City of Detroit during the Kilpatrick administration and was invited to a party at Bobby Ferguson's home. (Ferguson was Kilpatrick's crony) Ferguson told the fella "oh, by the way, it's $1000.00 at the door" (or words to that effect.)
