This Confusion is Not New

Some years ago, I helped a friend's mother edit her autobiography from growing up in the 1930s.   At age 4, her aspiration in life was to be...a race horse. Fortunately,  there were no doctors available to help her accomplish her inner equine.

  1. There is (was?) a TV ad for toaster waffles that had a 4-5 year old girl who wanted to be a dinosaur.

Not sure of the tie in to waffles, or her unwillingness to wear pants, but there you go. 4-5 year old's are not anything like rational adults. They may become rational adults (the odds decrease every year, it seems) but they are not, now.

  2. This reminds me of the 1951 movie You Never Can Tell. Dick Powell stars as a poisoned dog who is temporarily transcarnated as a private detective to solve his own murder; Joyce Holden plays his blonde secretary, a transcarnated horse. At one point she heads out to the track to get a bet down on her grandson in the 5th race.

    It's actually rather clever.
