Connecticut's Method of Supressing Vice

 

From Acts and Laws of the State of Connecticut, in America (1786), pp. 258-9, warning householders that they better have "one Bible at least" or face the consequences! 

Oh yeah, there was a mandatory church attendance law as well.

    I remember you pointing out earlier "take your gun to church" laws, and laws requiring all militia members to have a musket plus a bag of powder/shot in their house.

    However, this one is a little surprising.
