If Only There Were a Republican Party Still...

This article at Yahoo about McCain having to defend his support for amnesty for illegal aliens from angry constituents at town hall meetings is fascinating because there are currently more than 14,000 comments there -- and I have yet to find one that supports amnesty or any other part of the "reform" that is being proposed.  One comment captures it perfectly:
Why do we need more immigrants when we don't have enough jobs for citizens?
Why indeed?  Republican politicians want corporations that hire illegal aliens to have a supply of cheap labor, and Republican politicians like McCain are too stupid to figure out that Democratic politicians want tens of millions more reliable Democratic voters.

I no longer give money to Republican Party organizations because they are too stupid to breathe without directions.

Every time I get an RNC call asking for money, I tell them exactly that.

I give directly to candidates. The party simply too stupid and incompetent to support.

and they can't follow the directions as given either.

Every time John McCain is challenged he gets snotty! I'm sure the next thing he'll say is, "...but I protected your gun rights."

I think this misses the point. "Why do immigrants come here?" is the better question. I think the answer is that America still holds the promise of a better life. All the legislation in the world won't stop someone in 3rd world poverty from skipping the border checkpoint if they think the benefit far outweighs the risk.

When they needed a tame republican to trot out as supporting their evil laws McCain was their favorite maverick (Joe Lieberman, on the otherhand . . .). I haven't forgotten McCain-Feingold. Nude dancing is protected speech but politics is not !!!!.

This is only in the news because it is a chance to slam conservatives as ignorant and hateful. Al Gore's roasting at selling his TV channel to big, misogynistic oil was not news and went down the memory hole.

I'd be willing to buy the RNC a gigantic wooden horse.
