What the First Amendment Does and Doesn't Protect

Democrats say it protects virtual child porn and violent adult porn, but not asking questions about global warming:
California congressmen wrote a letter to state attorney general Kamala Harris claiming the freedom of speech “is not designed to protect fraud and deceit” of the likes being spread by oil company ExxonMobil about global warming.
Nineteen Democratic lawmakers told Harris her “investigation as to whether ExxonMobil lied about the truth of climate change and misled investors does not constitute an effort to silence speech or scientific research.

I wasn't aware ExxonMobil was doing that.  If so, could they please order 100,000 copies of my new book?

  1. So the way to protect a skeptical climate paper is to occasionally include a racy line, a complete non-sequitur, into each section then claim the whole document is constitutionally protected pornography.

    Properly placed, these could provide some much-needed humor to an otherwise dry scientific paper.
