A Ferocious Thought Experiment
Congress passes a law requiring the President to send his children to public schools in DC as ca condition of being paid his salary. As you probably know Democratic Presidents always send their kids to an exclusive private school; Republican Presidents in recent times wre too mature to have young kids. Imagine how rapidly, the National Education Association would come up with reasons why the poor parents of DC should send their kids to these hellholes, but not the President. Just sit back and munch the popcorn! You could come up with a really cute hash tag: #BlackEdMatters.

Amy Carter famously attended DC public schools.

Yes, forty years ago. D.C. schools may have changed a bit since then.
DeleteThe President is unlikely to have school-age children.
ReplyDeleteGeorge W. Bush, George H. W. Bush, Reagan, Nixon, Johnson, Eisenhower, Truman, Roosevelt, Hoover, Coolidge, Harding, Wilson, and Taft did not.
Ford's youngest child, Susan, was 16 when he became President in 1974.
Carter had three grown children, and a nine-year-old daughter.
Clinton's only child, Chelsea, was 12.
Kennedy had a toddler, Obama had tweens.
So in the last 108 years, the President has had school-age children for 23 years.
So, no real effect? No harm, no foul, pass and uphold the law? It'd be worth it just for the effect on the Leftists at the NEA.
