Of course, unless you are extraordinarily careful, you will never get exactly right. In this case the holes in the bottom plate were not perfectly aligned with the edge. This was probably because the mill vise was not perfectly square with the mill table. This is also why you drill the through hole slightly larger than the nominal through hole size for a machine screw. It lets you move the rel1ative positions to get them at least square to each other or very close. Right now, the discrepancy between the two pieces is .0071" on one end and .0060" on the other. This is certainly within the accuracy requirement for this assembly, but I am going to loosen the screws and try to get them a bit closer.
.0042" and .0045". Good enough.
