Imagine A Nation With Dumber Politicians Than Ours
Ontario Premier (sort of a provincial governor) Doug Ford threatens to add a 25% surcharge on electricity going south of the border. Here an expert explains that Ontario often pay American utilities to take their excess electricity. A 25% surcharge on top of $10/MWh is really going to hurt.

ReplyDeleteBut his calculus is even worse: Ontario provides something around 1% of the Northeastern intertie power. There is sufficient slack in the system to cover that.
And Ontario earns approximately $3-billion US Freedom Dollars annually from selling that power. Or would have.
So, not selling it would hurt ontarians, not the US. But it was a good sound bite for a moronic pol
