Nothing To Worry About

At my doctor's office yesterday, there was a sign on the front door that said, "If you have travelled to West Africa in the last 30 days and are sick, do not enter.  Stay in the parking lot and call [office number]"

  1. Ironic--they ask me about that at the clinics at UNMC--where they are taking in the Ebola cases.

  2. There's a very big difference between accepting a "shrink-wrapped" patient who know know has Ebola into a specialized ward, vs. someone showing up at the ER or a clinic in the early stages where the typical symptoms are indistinguishable from those cased by many diseases, including some 1st World Ones.

  3. They asked me that at Mayo Clinic, Scottsdale today. But Mayo does have a whole lot of foreigners coming to use their services.
