Californians, Stop Feeding the Beast!

So, the question that I keep asking Californians is, "Why do you stay and feed your taxes to the Beast?  This is a great time to take your $500,000 equity in your 3 bedroom, 2 bath house and move somewhere like Idaho where you can buy a very big house for that money and live on the return of the rest."

  2. BFR: I am pretty sure California readers of this blog are not going to move to Idaho and demand assault weapon bans and sanctuary cities. You are also assuming democratic reform is still possible in California.

  3. Hey, I'm working on leaving.

Unfortunately I got wiped out in 2008 (my fault, but it happened) so financing my way out of this State of Insanity isn't as easy as I'd like.

For a laugh, check the one-way Uhaul truck rentals; first look at the TX-->CA orice, then the CA-->TX price. I love capitalism, but it ain't working in my favor right now!

  4. Clayton,

What I am doing is not an assumption; it is a forecast. Past performance indicates future results.

Everywhere over the last 50 years that Californians have infested they have ultimately corroded the existing culture: Colorado, Arizona, Washington, Oregon, etc. For your apology to be correct you have to argue against the history that is evident.

Oregon is trying for a referendum, as we speak, to ban evil black rifles. Seattle drove the firearm business out of the city. Those two states are dominated by the communists that have taken over their government. They are also write-offs in the same sense that you indicate regarding CA.

Witness the demographic and resultant political shifting that is occurring in Idaho as we speak. The Boise metro area IS California; the same is also true from Post Falls to CDA.

I think that your sentimental notions as a former Californian clouds your view of the situation. I see them as little more than the boatloads of "refugees" invading Italy across the Mediterranean, albeit with more money and a more recent shower.

You can move them out of CA, but you cannot remove the CA from them.

  5. Idaho needs a billboard like this, starting "Califorinians..."

  6. It's getting to that point. I used to think I could be a mole for reason and legitimate economics, but that's taking a longer time than I think I have.
What kind of real estate property tax is there in Idaho?

  7. BFR: Both Idaho and Oregon have long had native left populations; Bezos and Gates are not from California. When my father was growing up in Seattle in the 1920s, Washington State was popularly called, "The 48th Soviet."

The most far left Idahoans I know are natives, intent on proving they aren't like their ignorant, evangelical, Republican parents.

Windy: I pay about $1600 a year in property taxes.

  8. BFR: Can we raise the money for a billboard that says: "If you left California because of its crazy, please don't bring the crazy with you"?

  9. When I moved from California to Texas I was surprised to find that my relatives here were even more liberal than dems I left in California. And members of the same extended family could be quite at odds with each other politically (half the facebook posts removed, half fully supported). I think you will find many of the Liberal Cali heading for Seattle or Denver while their more conservative brethren are heading for Oklahoma and Texas. True, we are learning the ways of Texas: such as a gun show practically every weekend and multiple gun ranges with an easy 30 minute drive. But its what has to be done after living under fifty years of progressive government. Even the late Dr. Krauthammer would say "I'm a recovering Democrat who was mugged by reality."
