There is plenty of genuflection to orthodoxy, and punishment of heresy, in supposedly objective 'hard science' fields so I'm not surprised that groups where standards and practices are determined solely by consensus of 'experts' wouldn't jump at the chance to literally (and not in the Joe Biden sense) exile critical voices.
