This wonderful ability to tap CFC seemed to be failing. No. An 8-32 tap and a 6-32 tap are amazingly similar in size and appearance. One of them produces holes that will not hold a 6-32 screw reliably. What makes especially painful is that 6-32 and 8-32 threads are just close enough that it feels like the screw is threading.
