I needed my rear windows defroster on. Not seeing a button obviously enough labeled, I pressed the microphone button and said, "Turn on rear defroster," and it did.
My barebones teenage Ford does not have any microphone or voice recognition functions, but my Garmin GPS does. Unfortunately, I retain enough of an accent from years living abroad that it doesn't understand me. Taking a tip from the TV sketch ""Scottish voice recognition elevator"", I tried using a mock upper-midwest US accent –– and when I do that, it works well.
