I Want to Blame Obama

There are no .22LR shot shells in Boise.  Even mail order is back ordered.

  1. Interesting---there was lots of ammo around late last week, but then I typically only buy the match grade stuff so maybe I didn't notice.

  3. Shot shells fired through a rifle produces a donut pattern that gets quite large in a hurry. Test fire one or two into a dirt embankment to see what your results look like but mine made a donut pattern 6 ft in dia with about 18:" walls at 15 yards. A turkey in the middle would have been unscathed.

It's been a long time since I patterned my .22 pistols, but they didn't exhibit that donut pattern. I suspect that they were not long enough to get the shot swirling up against the barrel wall, as your rifle did.

I kept opening up the range until gaps in the pattern were big enough to miss an average snakes head. Hmm, I think I still have those targets stored. Now, if I can only remember to look when I return...
