08/04/1972: Two robbers shot to death a man, his wife, and
their son with rifles. The man managed a grocery store part-time. Subsequent
reports indicate that a third man was the getaway driver. A witness saw the
murderers march them out of the store. The witness dropped his family at home,
then returned with a gun, too late.

They were marched out the back of the store, forced to lie down, then shot to death. Why would you not put a physical struggle at this point? You cannot think you are going to be allowed to live.
Ordinary people don't recognize such conditions until it's too late if at all. I saw a review of the book, The Escape Artist, about a Jew who escaped from Auschwitz to warn other Jews - and was not believed. Even by Jews who had already lived for years under Nazi occupation.
ReplyDeleteIndeed. I think the early warning signs might be recognized earlier this time (assuming people know about the Holocaust as something other then Gaza).
