People, and by that I mostly mean northerners, don't understand how humid parts of the south - like the Smoky Mountains - can be. (Known as the Smoky Mountains, because every morning the steam rises off o them, giving the impression of fire.)
I don't understand how people lived there without air conditioning.
Smokies are that way because they produce organic smog. https://www.visitmysmokies.com/blog/smoky-mountains/what-makes-the-smoky-mountains-smoky/ I have read that these VOCs are xylenes.
