Old-Fashioned Government Corruption

5/6/25 Daily Wire:
"A foreign aid official who refused the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) access to his agency’s financial records may have had a reason to keep auditors out: he steered illicit contracts to a friend who sent him secret payments, according to a law enforcement affidavit obtained by The Daily Wire."

A lot of what DOGE has uncovered are contracts to provide funding for political activity and funding of identity group support (transgender).  This seems to be a more traditional form of corruption: the CFO was awarding no-bid contracts to a friend who was then sending some of it to the CFO for his own use.

The good news is that even before Trump won, employees of the agency were informing the appropriate members of Congress about this and other financial skuldugery.  I suspect some of the employees actually wanted to do good in Africa.  It has been on Africa's great tragedies that privileged white guilt meant that no one ever looks at how all the money given to Africa is spent.
