Epoxy vs. Gorilla Glue

To my surprise,  Gorilla Glue seems to be better at locking threaded inserts into CFC than the binary epoxy that I have been using.   Perhaps it is too old.

I know that chemically, these are similar glues.  The Gorilla Glue is also easier to apply.

  1. If you have the 5-minute epoxy from the big box store, that is certainly true. 5 minute epoxy is usually a 50/50 mix. If you're going for strength you want mix that uses much less activator. That usually means that the cure time is either 45 minutes or a couple of hours depending on whether you choose fast-cure or slow-cure.

And like epoxy won't bond to everything, I'm fairly sure that Gorilla Glue won't bond to everything. (I've usually only used Gorilla Glue with wood, where is works great)

    1. Can you recommend a brand? Or just buy something thst does not promise five minute set?

  2. I have had Gorilla glue degrade over time (3-5 years) for no reason I can discern. Seems to get crumbly and lose structural strength.
