This is like CAPCOM in Houston wearing the EVA suit and pack while talking to the Astronauts during their EVA's while on the Moon, to show their dedication and commitment to the program. I can only imagine what Senator Proxmire would have said if they'd tried this. Or really, any newspaper editorial staff, including that of the New York Times.
