Know Your Audience

At the symposium Thursday, a question that was asked involved the primary intent of the 2nd Amendment.  I explained that self-defense was so deeply assumed that it was not even seriously discussed; resistance to tyranny was the big concern.  So I threw in a laugh line:

I keep hearing Trump compared to Hitler.  To which my question is: "What prison is Kathy Griffin being held in?  The same one where the Dixie Chicks were sent after insulting the last Hitler-like president, George Bush?"

My wife pointed out later that these law students are too young to remember the Dixie Chicks kerfuffle.
