Drop kick Me Jesus was written by Paul Craft, a Nashville veteran. I heard him speak once at a Mensa convention, he said Drop Kick Me was his biggest hit, and he came to write it hilariously. He was singing once at an open mike night in Nashville, taking requests, and a drunk blathered, "Sing drop kick me Jesus." Craft replied that he didn't know it. at the next break, he asked the drunk for info on the song. thge drunk laughed and said he just made up the title. Craft told us that later that night, he woke up suddenly, and the lyrics started pouring out. it may or may not be true, but a great story.
