Obama Decides To Delay Pipeline Decision Until After Election

The November 10, 2011 New York Times is reporting that the Obama Administration has decided to delay a decision about the oil pipeline from Canada to the Gulf Coast refineries until after the 2012 election.  Apparently, Obama is concerned that environmentalists won't vote for him if he approves the pipeline.

Building the pipeline would immediately create at least 20,000 jobs, and the lowered gasoline prices would create vastly more jobs in tourism-related industries.  It would also mean less need for "Blood for Oil," to quote the popular left-wing bumper sticker (which was always just an excuse anyway). But so what?  Who cares about you?  If you aren't a millionaire buying a Tesla, why would Obama care about your well-being?

  1. The environmentalists have been pushing Obama to cancel the pipeline or they won't work for his re-election.

Do they understand that Obama is under pressure from the unions to allow the pipeline and that Obama is likely making a secret deal with the unions to allow the pipeline after his re-election?

In this way, he can gain the support of both special-interests for his re-election.

Great for Obama, but it means the environmentalists will look like chumps.
