More Winning

From 4/4/18 Slate:
The confirmation of Gorsuch heralded a year of lower court nominees created in his image—predominantly white and male, relatively young, and often hostile to consumer, worker, health, and environmental protections, as well as gender, racial, and LGBTQ equality. A disturbing number of Trump’s judicial nominees are actually lawyers who have built their careers denigrating LGBTQ people and their families. Analysis by Lambda Legal (where I work as a legal fellow) at the end of last year found that nearly 1 in 3 (16 out of 59) of Trump’s judicial nominees to that point had anti-LGBTQ records.
I'm guessing anti-LGBTQ means, "Letting people safely disagree."

More winning!

Good News From CNN

https://www.cnn.com/2018/04/09/politics/rick-scott-bill-nelson-florida/index.html

CNN article points out that Gov.  Rick Scott's decision to run against Sen. Nelson (D-FL) is going to hurt the Democrats badly.   Scott is personally very wealthy and has a history of pouring millions into his campaigns,  so Democrats will need to spend tens of millions to help Nelson hold the seat,  reducing money available for other Senate races around the country.

While the Republican Party is largely a disappointment, Scott is a Trump ally, and Democrats regaining control of either house would be a disaster.  Awesome!

Gun Control is For Little People

Reagan Stevens, a deputy director in the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, and two young men were arrested for illegal weapons possession while sitting in a double-parked car near the scene of a Saturday night shooting in Queens, cops said.
A loaded, 9mm semi-automatic pistol with its serial number defaced was hidden in the car’s glovebox, and there was a spent shell casing on the floor near Stevens’ feet in the rear of the 2002 dark red Infiniti SUV, law enforcement sources said.
The trio’s arrest followed a burst of five gunshots that activated an NYPD “ShotSpotter” device in Jamaica at 9:42 p.m. Saturday, sources said.
The listening device pinpointed the shooting at 174th Street and 109th Avenue, and private surveillance video captured the muzzle flashes of five shots fired from the Infiniti, sources said.
The handgun seized by cops has an eight-round magazine and held three cartridges — two in the magazine and one in the chamber, sources said.
Five shots fired; three left in an 8 round magazine; sound and video evidence.  No wonder de Blasio supports gun control.  His own staff can't be trusted.  But that doesn't mean every other New Yorker is as stupid and criminal as his staff.  A lot of gun control agitation is what psychologists call "projection":
humans defend themselves against their own unconscious impulses or qualities (both positive and negative) by denying their existence in themselves while attributing them to others.

The comments over at Instapundit are marvelous:
Is this a Common Core Urban Word Math problem?
Reagan has a gun with an eight round magazine. If she capped somebody's ass with five rounds, how many rounds does Reagan have left to shoot some other MoFo?

Why New Jersey Has Strict Gun Control Laws

4/6/18 Philadelphia Inquirer:
A roadside strip search in N.J. draws protest and legal action. How far can an officer go?

The trooper is then seen pulling on blue latex gloves, reaching into the driver’s underwear, and groping his genitals and buttocks while the two stand on Route 206 in Southampton, Burlington County. All the while, trucks and cars pass by on the busy highway.
While I oppose decriminalization, this is the sort of behavior that makes "War on Drugs" a dangerous idea.  It means anything, no matter how absurd, is in play.

Like a Parody of Gun Control

04/08/18 Daily Wire:
An epidemic of stabbings and acid attacks in London has gotten so bad that London mayor Sadiq Khan is announcing broad new "knife control" policies designed to keep these weapons of war out of the hands of Londoners looking to cause others harm.
The "tough, immediate" measures involve an incredible police crackdown, a ban on home deliveries of knives and acid, and expanding law enforcement stop-and-search powers so that police may stop anyone they believe to be a threat, or planning a knife or acid attack. [emphasis added]
Weapons of war in 10,000 BC; after that we had moved to swords.  And how do they know someone is planning an attack?  Do Bobbies now carry mindreading devices?

Oh, and
"zombie knives" are those defined as being manufactured for the purpose of being used as a person-to-person weapon

I thought those were "assault knives."

Tater Meows, "Thank you." At least It Sounds Like That

One of my compassionate and experienced readers suggesting switching him to wet food.  The Urinator is no longer saying, "I could pee on this," (very funny book of cat poetry) and I will.  I think the kibble was drying him out and he was drinking lots of water in response.  Cats in the wild (Ethiopian and Arab deserts) drink very little water, getting most of their water from their prey; I think water just goes right through them.  We still are watching him carefully when out of the laundry room, but he is definitely less agitated, and there have been no accidents.

Brownell's Having a Sale on Wilson-Rogers 8 Round Magazines for M1911s

Only a dollar off their normal price, but still cheaper than anywhere else that I could find.  It is still only 9 rounds before a mag change, but the M1911 now doesn't look quite so bad compared to some 9mm alternatives.
