Today's Weird Question

I have seen flly threaded studs with a hex head opening in one end so that you can tighten them down with a hex end wrench.  Do these have a special name?

  1. Apparently they are sometimes called "grub screws".

  2. Set Screws

  3. RevGreg: awesome, grub screws are close but probably not as useful in this context.

  4. Internal set screw - aka grub screw on the island formerly known as Great Britain.

An external set screw would be fastened externally - a slot or hex head; internal set screws have the recess for a hex, torx or tamper-proof torx or other similar wrenching system.
