From the February 28, 2012 The Politico, recounting Congressional hearings with Secretary of Energy Chu:

“But is the overall goal to get our price” of gasoline down, asked [Rep.] Nunnelee.
“No, the overall goal is to decrease our dependency on oil, to build and strengthen our economy,” Chu replied. “We think that if you consider all these energy policies, including energy efficiency, we think that we can go a long way to becoming less dependent on oil and [diversifying] our supply and we’ll help the American economy and the American consumers.”

If Republicans want to win the general election in November (always an uncertain matter), I would hope that they are planning to use Secretary Chu's response in advertising campaigns.  But that would require the Republican National Committee be committed to defeating Democrats.  That does not ever seem to be their goal.  Or perhaps they are just too stupid to know how.

  1. It certainly is handy that Chu not only supports stupid energy ideas, but also is so incompetent a politician as to admit to them.

I too hope republicans use his quotes. He speaks the truth - enviros want to reduce the use of fossil fuels, and are doing their best to ruin our economy in their efforts.

To links just from here in AZ on his: Arizona tribes awarded 3 renewable energy grants.

Anyone who has been to our reservations knows that most are cesspools of poverty and social collapse. They need money and a release from the reservation system, not solar power.

    And...

Many of the jobs lost will be Navajos, of course.
