ReplyDeleteDoes "arms" in the vernacular of the late 1700s mean "Man-portable?" As opposed to ordinance which would be larger/crew served weapons.
Can you carry it? Thst is what "bear" meant. Cannons, no. Grenades which were privately owned, yes.
